Cannes, the jewel of the Côte d’Azur, stands out as a leading sustainable and responsible destination.
At the heart of this approach, the city is firmly committed to making the environment a priority.
For several years now, the municipality has been stepping up its efforts to ensure that Cannes has a positive, sustainable future: protecting the Mediterranean, decarbonizing transport, greening the city, reusing wastewater, recycling waste…
In 2023, Cannes became an « Innovative Sustainable Destination », label created by France Congrès et Evénements, underlining its commitment to sustainable development and innovation. This label rewards the efforts of tourist destinations to reconcile economic growth, environmental preservation and social responsibility.
Since 2022, the WAICF (World AI Cannes Festival) has been the world's leading event dedicated to artificial intelligence.
In just three editions, the WAICF has established itself in Cannes as the world's leading event dedicated to AI. This spectacular success reinforces Cannes as the crossroads for international meetings and the epicenter of an ecosystem that is both local and international, positive, proactive and daring when it comes to innovation. This is a global, anthropological and economic challenge.
There's no festival without awards, and the WAICF presents the Cannes Neurons Awards, highlighting young companies that are pushing back the boundaries of innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. The ambition is to propel onto the international stage the most agile and creative projects, driving the transformation of AI and delivering a positive impact for society or the economy.

The first underwater eco-museum in the Mediterranean and in France is in Cannes! Created by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, the 6 submerged underwater sculptures on the southern tip of the Ile Sainte-Marguerite are helping to bring back flora and fauna to an area that was severely degraded several decades ago. In keeping with its commitment to the environment, Cannes has now taken another step forward by hosting one of the largest Posidonia restoration projects in France. Spearheaded by the NaturDive association, the PRIME1 program involves replanting 3,000 m2 of Posidonia meadows over a three-year period in the no-sailing zone that houses the Cannes Ecomuseum.
